An American + a Brazilian

Falling in love in two languages.

Ed is learning Portuguese. Naty is learning English. Most days we meet in the middle, with a translation app on the table.

EDI'm so full, that was amazing.→ Estou tão cheio, foi incrível.

NATYCheio de mim?? 😳→ Fed up with me??

EDNo! Full of FOOD. 😂

"Estou cheio" can mean "I'm full" or "I'm fed up." Context is everything.

Two languages, one story

We're moving in together, blending two families and two cultures, and filming what that really looks like.

Ed · 🇺🇸 United States

I've been a business guy, a golfer, a scuba instructor and a serial prankster, and I'll try just about anything once. Twice if it makes Naty laugh. But strip all that away and my life is simple: the people I love come first, and nothing I own comes close.

I'm learning Portuguese so I can tell Naty that in her own language. Right now the app does most of the talking, and she's still not sure whether to trust my pranks or my translations.

Naty · 🇧🇷 Brazil

I'm Brazilian, and I've been living in the United States for almost three years. Building a life far from home, in a new culture and a new language, hasn't been easy. My days are long and my routine is demanding. I never imagined something so special could happen just when I least expected it.

I'm learning to live in a new culture, and Ed is discovering my world: my traditions, the way I show affection, and how I see love.

In Naty's words

A love story between two languages

Then I met Ed, an American who speaks only English, while I speak only a few words of it. How can two people truly get to know each other when they cannot always understand each other's words? That is exactly where our story began to become something special.

Through translated words, improvised sentences, laughter and unexpected situations, we began discovering each other. We learned that a look, a loving gesture, or simply being present can say much more than a perfectly spoken sentence.

We are not a perfect couple, and we do not have all the answers. We are two people learning, growing and discovering, day by day, how to turn our differences into something that brings us even closer. Maybe our accents will never completely disappear. That is part of our story too.

Love does not require us to speak the same language perfectly. It requires two people who are willing to listen to each other, understand each other, and walk in the same direction.

Welcome to our world, our differences, our laughter and our dreams.

What we film

Everyday life, with a language barrier in the middle of it.

Na cozinha

Cooking together

Brazilian classics vs. American comfort food, and the arguments about rice.

Viagens

Travel & events

New places, family trips, and ordering food in a language one of us half speaks.

Família

Blending families

Two families, two languages, one group chat that needs a translator.

Idiomas

Learning each other's language

Lessons, fails and the words the app keeps getting wrong.

Lost in translation

Portuguese words that look like English and mean something else. We learned most of these the hard way.

Not "exquisite." Careful when complimenting her cooking.

Puxa vida!expression

Literally "pull life." The app had no idea.

Estou cheiophrase

Say "estou satisfeito" after dinner to stay safe.
